So, here is an "I told you so" moment for my Mom. My Mom said when her kids turned one she took away the binki. When Alex turned one, I started thinking about it, but never really did anything about it. She didn't seem super attached to it, it was really convenient, and frankly, I didn't think taking it away would be that big of a deal. Fast forward six months, and Alex still has the binki, and she is REALLY attached to it and cries for it all the time. We do try to enforce the rule that she can only have it when it is nap time, but when she is fussy in the car it is so easy just to give in and shut her up. Lately Alex has gone out of her way to seek out the hiding places for the binki. She knows where they are in the diaper bag, and she is skilled at getting her little arms through the bars of her crib to fish it out. Just to illustrate her passion for her binki, I give you these pictures where Alex tries really hard to suck on two simultaneously! Any helpful hints you have for helping us rid ourselves of this albatross-please send a comment. But try to refrain from telling me "I told you so."

The framing of our house is complete and the roof is almost finished as well. The windows were put in last week and I think they look great. The plumbing is under way and hopefully the heating and electrical will be starting this week. The framers did an awesome job and we love the layout of the house. Now we get to start picking out all of the fun stuff!

Hey I had an issue with Jenna and so at a year tried to break her of it too. this is what I did and it worked for her.But she was not happy for a couple of days.
CUT OFF THE TIP. she thinks you still love her because you gave her the binki but the binki just isn't the same and hopefuly she won't like it any more.I got the idea on OPRAH from Marie Osmond and she knows all dosen't she.
My sister-in-law had her kids round up all the binkies, then they went to the zoo to "donate" them to the baby monkeys. She just found some random zoo keeper and got him to go along with it and the kids were so happy to help the baby monkeys out. Then every time they cried for it, she reminded them of the monkeys and they were fine.
Obviously I have no advice but the pictures are adorable...it could be worse...she could be sucking on her fingers like Kira :)
