You will have to forgive me for doing a post without any pictures attached. I have been trying to figure out how to fix a little problem I am having with our blog. Apparently, I am such a crazy photographer that I have used up my allotted quota of pictures on our blog. I have to figure out how to get more space without having to erase any of my previous posts. So, that is why I have been such a slacker at posting.
So.. what is new with us? We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Utah with my family. My sister Amy and her husband Ryan were nice enough to host it at their home in Lehi this year. It was fun to see everyone and enjoy a super yummy dinner. I was able to fit in a lunch date while we were in Utah with my good friends Stephanie, Mishala, and Elaine. I love those ladies so much and wish I got to see them more often than I do. I am so thankful for friendships that just pick up from where you left off last time like you have never been apart. It is wonderful.
We had a both wonderful and very interesting Christmas. We had a very nice dinner with all of Nathan's siblings and families at his parents house on Christmas Eve. While we were getting everyone ready to do the Christmas nativity story, Dane accidentally cut Izzie's finger with a pair of scissors. You would have thought she was going to die over a little cut. It was bleeding quite a bit and Izzie acted like she was mortally wounded. By the time we got her calmed down we had missed the whole program. Alex was super excited that she got to play the Virgin Mary, I wish I could have seen the whole thing. The girls opened their presents from their cousins and jammies from us, then we headed home to get everyone to bed.
At about 4:30 am Christmas morning Sienna started throwing up. She couldn't stop either. We sat and opened presents while holding a barf bucket for our sweet little gal. Needless to say, things didn't go as expected, but overall everyone still had a great time. Alex and Izzie were so excited over all of their gifts and had a blast. Poor little Sienna did muster up enough strength to sit on her new little rocking horse for a few minutes with very little enthusiasm and then she was ready for a nap. Oh well! The vision I had of a picture perfect Christmas morning didn't pan out and that's the way life goes sometimes.
We were supposed to go to the cabin with Nathan's family in Island Park the day after Christmas and we had debated about whether or not to go because of Sienna. She seemed like she was doing fine and had not thrown up since Christmas morning, so we decided to go to the cabin. The first day and a half were great. The kids had fun playing in the snow being pulled on a sled by the four wheeler and then going to a nearby sled hill and catching some air. I started feeling nauseated, etc. the day after we got there and was afraid Sienna had given me her bug. That night after we put Sienna to bed she started throwing up all over the place, it was a horrible mess. And Keith was starting to feel sick to his stomach. Nathan and I decided to head home with Sienna in case she got worse and needed to see a doctor. Keith and Cherie were going to bring the other two girls home with them in the morning so we packed up the car with a lot of their gear so they had room for the girls in their car. Then....Izzie started puking, and again a huge mess. We decided to just take our whole family and Keith home. We had to unpack and pack the car again to make room for everyone. I was so lucky in my nauseated state to smash in the back of the car holding a baggie for Izzie to throw up in (which she did 4 times) on the way home, and praying Sienna wouldn't start throwing up in her car seat. And that folks is how Nathan and I spent our 9th anniversary! Romantic eh? Not to mention when we got home that night, Nathan got the bug and was so sick. It made its way through everyone in our family except Alex only complained of a stomach ache (mostly because she felt left out I think). And it didn't stop there. Megan and Andy's family got the worst of it. Andy and Asher had to go to the ER for fluids and meds they were so sick. Makoy, Dane, Greg, and Hayden also got it. I feel so horrible that our little Sienna was the catalyst to all of the problems, but of course we had no idea it would turn out that way. Next time if there is any question about someone being sick, we will just stay home!
We enjoyed a nice Christmas break with Alex out of school for two weeks. I think she was getting really bored at home and was super excited to go back on Monday. She lost her third tooth last week too! Izzie is so jealous, she doesn't like that Alex gets to experience things first but I guess that is one of the perks of being oldest. Alex will be celebrating her 6th birthday this Saturday. We are planning on having a friend party in the afternoon and then a family party in the evening. Hopefully Grandma Kate and Grandpa Golden can make it up from Utah if the weather will cooperate. Hopefully I will have the picture situation figured out so I can post some pics of the holidays and January birthdays for both Alex and Izzie.
