California Part 2

Now that the craziness of Girls Camp is finally over I can get caught up on other things...like the blog. I realize that it was way back in May when we went to California, but I am going to try to clear the cobwebs out of my brain so I can blog about it. So the first part of our trip was spent in Anaheim at Disneyland which I already posted about. After Disneyland we headed North towards San Luis Obispo which is where Eric, Leah, and Dane live. The girls did great in the car thanks to many DVDs they watched along the way. When we passed through Santa Barbara, we fell in love. What a gorgeous city! It would be a fabulous place to live. When we got to Eric and Leah's the girls had so much fun playing with Dane and were so excited to try out his zip line in the backyard. In fact, it was hard to get them off of it once they knew it was there!

The next day we headed to Montana De Oro where we had a picnic and let the kids play. Alex fell in the water pretty much right when we got there and was not very happy about it. Once she got dried off and warmed up she was much happier. The girls and Dane had fun chasing lizards and playing in the rocks.

Izzie and Dane hung out together in the beach chair eating lunch.
Alex and Izzie had fun collecting sea shells on the beach.
Definitely not a beach you would want to swim at, the waves were huge!

One night we headed to downtown San Luis Obispo to check out the weekly traditional farmers market.  We had to try out one of Eric and Leah's favorite places to eat called Firestone.  The pork sandwich on my plate is half of what was there.  It was enormous, and delicious!

Alex enjoying some cuddle time with daddy.

Along the street with the farmers market is a place called "bubblegum alley."  It is pretty self explanatory.  There are literally thousands of chewed pieces of gum stuck to the walls of the alley.  Super gross and super cool at the same time.

What kind of patrons would we be if we didn't make a contribution to the wall?  Alex was excited to participate, but Izzie wasn't giving up her gum.
Even though we were pretty stuffed from dinner, we had to make some room for a little street food.  The girls were loving the corn on the cob slathered in all kinds of yumminess.

Izzie couldn't help getting her groove on when she heard the music playing.  She put on a show as usual.
The girls had a blast on this inflatable slide.

Sienna is such a good girl.  She was just along for the ride, taking it all in.
The next day we went to San Simeon where there is a beach covered in elephant seals.  It was fun just to sit and watch them play and fight one another.

After a picnic lunch, we walked along the pier and then let the kids play in the sand.  I wasn't sure what Sienna would think of the sand because Izzie hated the beach as a baby.  Sienna LOVED it.  She was putting sand everywhere!  She had it in her ears and was even trying to eat it, gross!

One of the days we went to a petting zoo where the kids could feed all of the animals.  They loved doing this and Izzie was cracking me up talking to the goats and sheep.

Nathan gave me these beautiful Calla Lillies for Mother's Day while we were there.  Unfortunately, I had to leave them behind because I was afraid they wouldn't survive the plane ride home.
On Mother's Day we went to Morro Bay and had some delicious fish and chips and took a walk along the pier and around Morro Rock.  The girls had fun watching the seals that were near the pier looking for food.
Morro Rock

The adults got so tired of taking the girls on the zip line over and over again, that Izzie and Alex figured out how to give each other rides.
Eric and Leah have a nice backyard that adjoins with her parents yard complete with a huge garden, fire pit, and a little cabin.  It was a fun place just to hang out and visit.

There was a perfect place to take some pics of little Sienna.  She was having a blast playing with the flowers.  So sweet!

We had such a great time hanging out and visiting with Eric, Leah, and Dane.  Hopefully it wont be long before we get to see them again!
