Happy 4th Birthday Alex!

Wow! Four years old! It seems like just yesterday I was on my way to the hospital in labor on a cold snowy day ready to welcome our first little girl to our family. Now here we are four years later and look at how much she has grown and changed. Alex is such a bright, beautiful, tender-hearted girl, and we are so glad she is part of our family.

Alex had a wonderful birthday. Her cousins, Aunt Kristen, Uncle Greg, Grandma Reesey and Grandpa Keith, came over for a pizza party and cake and ice cream. Grandma Reesey and I experimented with fondant to make Alex's cake (thanks Cherie!). We learned a lot along the way, but it really turned out cute for a first attempt. Alex kept telling me how much she loved her cake and that is all that mattered to me.

How do they make those amazing cakes on Ace of Cakes look so effortless? It is not easy, I have to give them props!

This looks more like Christmas than a birthday! Check out all of that lute. Alex got a Leapster with some games and carrying case, four princess dolls, a princess castle, a Rapunzel princess dress, a ballerina doll, a unicorn pillow pet and a cute tutu with matching shirt. She was so excited about everything that she didn't know what to play with first.

Alex got really shy and embarrassed when we were singing Happy Birthday to her. On Sunday when they sang to her in primary, she did the same thing and was nearly in tears. Poor girl, we need to toughen her up a bit.

Just FYI, fondant tastes like weird play doh (though I have heard some people do like it). However, the cake, butter cream frosting and raspberry filling were very tasty.

Alex absolutely adored the Rapunzel dress Grandma Kate and Grandpa Golden gave her. It is the first thing she wants to put on in the morning.
Thanks everyone for making her birthday special!
