Winter in Idaho

Do you have this much snow at your house? Apparently, this has been the most snow Idaho has had in ten years. How lucky are we to have moved here just in time for it. It is amazing the difference in winters between Utah and Idaho. For one, it is colder, but also the wind blows the snow around making snow drifts (aka snow banks) unexpectedly in the middle of the road.

Nathan and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary two days after Christmas. It was such a crazy, busy time that we decided to wait until the following weekend to celebrate it. We haven't been skiing together for six years, so we thought it was time to hit the slops again. There is a local ski resort near Idaho Falls called Kelly's. We spent Saturday enjoying nearly perfect conditions. There was 5-6 inches of fresh powder, sunshine, and not a lot of people which made for a great day.

On our way up to Kelly's we encountered incredible scenery. I loved the look of this vivid red barn in contrast with the fresh snow and had to take a picture.

This river looked so pretty surrounded by the snow.

The blanket of snow covering this farm field makes it difficult to tell where the sky begins.

While I HATE the dreary winter I'm experiencing here in Seattle, this post reminded me that I HATE THE SNOW EVEN MORE...at least here in Seattle I can still walk everywhere.

Happy Anniversary!
