Hugs Please!

Hurray for the Internet! I feel as though I have been living in the dark ages for the last couple of weeks without the Internet in our house. Luckily I have been able to use it at Nathan's work, but now we are all set up at our house. The bad news is that our digital camera is having issues and will not take pictures. I have resorted to taking pics of Alex with my cell phone. The quality is not great, but beggars can't be choosers they say.
Last week Nathan had to fly to L.A. from Sunday to Friday for a training conference. Yes, he left Alex and I on our own after we just got here! (Not like he had a choice or anything). We survived though and kept ourselves busy unpacking, painting, and watering our dead lawn. Our house looks so much better now that it is painted. What a huge difference it made. I promise to post some pics just as soon as I get our camera fixed.
Alex is doing so good. She is eating lots of baby food now and her favorites are squash and green beans. The week we were packing to move to Oregon Alex was extremely fussy and not acting like her happy-go-lucky self. Her gums looked a little swollen, but I wasn't positive she was getting teeth. But sure enough, last week two little bottom teeth came popping out. I gave her a teething ring to see if it would sooth her gums and when I turned around she had it on her leg like a garter, it was so funny. She was looking at me like "Mom get this cold thing off my leg!"

The other day Alex was making a weird noise and I looked over to see what she was doing. She was freaking out because she had this ring from one of her toys stuck in her mouth. She was sitting there with her mouth open just waiting for me to take it out. Being the nice mother I am, I took a picture first.

I put Alex in her swing to entertain her while I was painting. She didn't want to sit back and relax and insisted on leaning forward the whole time. I went in to check on her and she had fallen asleep with her head on the tray. It was so funny but she woke up before I could get a picture. You can almost see the tray mark on her left cheek.

When we were driving to Oregon, we stopped in Burley Idaho to get some food at a greasy spoon diner. Alex was having so much fun sitting on the bench like a big person. She is such a little character.

We hope you all are doing well. We love and miss everyone so much. I promise to be better at updating the blog now that things are calming down a bit, and we have Internet! Alex is going to be crawling any day. I will have to figure out how to put video on the blog! (Janeece, hint, hint).

What a cute new blog header!!!

Sounds like you guys are adjusting just fine. I like hearing that. Have you been to your new ward? I'm anxious to hear if you've made some new friends.

What great pictures of little Alex. I love the one with the ring stuck on her face. I mostly love that you took a picture before you helped her out. Way to go, mom!!

(oh, and you'd better stop watering your lawn. They don't do that here in the Pacific Northwest. If there isn't enough rain to keep it green, you just have to let it die. You can't waste precious water...and eventually some Oregon hippy will stop and yell at you!!) ;-)

You want to know how to post a video? Well, first you have to host it somewhere. I prefer vimeo.com. It's free. So sign up, upload your video and then choose to "embed it". You'll get some code. Just copy and paste the code into a new blog post and you're set. It's easy as pie!!

(You can also do it on youtube.com, but then they own the rights and that isn't cool.)

Cute pictures of Alex! We all miss you here...come back!! We've gotten a couple of new Beehives and others are back home from being gone all summer, so our class is getting quite large!

I'm completely envious of you having access to better grocery stores! I had to go to 3 different grocery stores last week to find fresh basil and pancetta. I never found either!

Let me know if you try and new recipes soon! At the beginning of this month I taught the girls how to make no-bake cookies, but they didn't really care. They just wanted to decorate their recipe boxes the whole time. =)
